This anime looks like it belongs in the same era as ghost fighter Yu Yu Hakusho

That's weird... Urusei Yatsura originally came out in 1981. It's pretty much the granddaddy of this genre of anime. Yu Yu Hakusho came out in 1992, Ghost Fighter came out in the same year, and Ranma 1/2 came out in 1989. Maybe it gives the same vibes because the show influenced the creators? Except for Ranma. That's another of Takahashi's work.

more with dragon ball than one piece, theres a lot more build up towards luffy taking down the stronger big name foes that there is with goku.
i mean, the yonko where first mentioned in chapter 96, luffy didn't actually engage into direct combat with one until ch 863 and it took until ch 1049 for him to actually beat one. theres no foreshadowing or timegap like that with any enemy from dragonball or pretty much any other series.
another thing to note with dragonball did ended with the peaceful world saga but was kept alive for like 15 or so years on just popularity & video games until battle of gods revived it.

meanwhile, you have digimon choosing not only to bring back & keep its original anime series going as a movie series, but also choosing to make a remake of it and make 2 other anime series....

The last time I watched digimon was when I was <10, so after a few decades its not exactly in the front of my mind, but any that requires spin-offs and remakes is just sad and pathetic.

i mean, while digimon does have its own multiverse going, comparing most of the series to each other is like comparing ranma 1/2 to inuyasha... or in the case of digimon savers, comparing g-gundam to any other gundam series...
should also be noted that digimon's anime & games are made by toei
& bandai so it suffers more from the companies focusing more on dragon ball & one piece.

ikr it really lets me let lose and enjoy watching all the shinanigance with out feeling sorry for anyone of the MC characters :D :D :D

I mean, the term of him used to saying the name Shinobu is already a big give away but either way, I'll let you know. He also voiced Koyomi Araragi from Monogatari Series where there's a loli vampire also named as Shinobu or on her adult form, Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion-Heart-Under-Blade. And yeah, he also voiced Law from One Piece, Levi from AoT, Matou Shinji from Fate, Izaya from Durarara!!, Yato from Noragami and much more. But yeah, the original comment was talking about his role as Araragi from Monogatari Series.
